A fire incident on a boat en route to Thilafushi to collect gas cylinders has left four people burned.
Police said the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. this morning and that two Maldivians and two foreigners received burn injuries, with one Maldivian having suffered sever burns.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has confirmed the incident.
Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) said they are attending the cases.
Police said the fire ignited inside the boat’s engine room while it was transporting goods to the industrial island of Thilafushi, with intent to collect gas cylinders from the island.
