The National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) has said that efforts are under way, with the assistance of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC), to implement three projects this year on protection from disasters.
NDMC said in a statement released today that a one-year partnership agreement had been signed with ADPC.
NDMC said that the three projects to be undertaken with ADPC’s assistance are a Priority Implementation Partnership Project, a project on establishing a national framework on protection from disasters, and a project on providing assistance in drafting the law on disaster-related matters.
NDMC said that the Priority Implementation Partnership Project is about island level development plans related to minimising the damage caused by disasters; while the project on establishing a national framework on protection from disasters relates a framework including plans on minimising the damage caused by disasters at island level, and increasing protection.
NDMC announced at the function held on the National Unity Day last year that the draft bill on protection from disasters will be submitted to the parliament this year.
