Work on IGMH new building order to be discontinued

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered to temporary stop construction of the new wing being built for Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). ACC ordered the temporary halt saying that they are currently investigating a matter where the project was handed over to AMIN Construction for a second time for an increased cost.

President of ACC Hassan Luthufy told sun today that a complaint had prompted investigations into the matter and that the project will be allowed to resume once the commission has finished its investigation.

“We received a complaint that the project was handed for a second time with an increase in cost. The commission is currently summoning and questioning the relevant parties. We are investigating how it has happened and the reason for an increase in cost. We will make a decision regarding the issue very soon,” said Luthufee.

The construction of the 10 story building, commissioned by the government to alleviate IGMH space constraints, is being carried out by AMIN Construction. The work was ordered to be stopped a few days after the work for the second round began.
