The Elections Commission has said that lots will be cast next week, to arrange the names of the four presidential election candidates.
President of the Elections Commission Fuad Thaufeeg told Sun Online today lots must be cast five days after the last candidacy is filed to the commission. The four presidential election candidates are former President Mohamed Nasheed, Dr Mohamed Waheed, Gasim Ibrahim and Abdullah Yameen.
Abdullah Yameen was the last to file his candidacy to the commission, on Monday.
Cases can be filed to the Supreme Court within these five days, regarding the legitimacy of the candidacies submitted to the commission.
The five-day period to file cases against the candidacies of Nasheed and Waheed has now passed, but cases can still be filed against Gasim and Yameen, who submitted their candidacies to the commission on Monday.
Fuad said that given that no cases are filed against the candidates, lots will be cast on Sunday.
