Protest held in Hulhumale

A group of people have held a protest in Hulhumale’ against the increase in bus fares, while MTCC prepares to introduce bus services in Hulhumale’ using larger buses this evening.

The protesters gathered at around 15:00, and the protest ended at around 18:00.

MTCC has decided to use larger, Volvo buses in Hulhumale’.

The protest took place at the area where the bus service was to be introduced.

The protesters demanded a better ferry system between Male’ and Hulhumale’, which they said is more important than the air-con bus service in Hulhumale'.

The police arrested some people, including two women, who disobeyed police orders during the protest.
