Maldives Food and Drug Authority (FDA) has ordered to close down Furadhaana Pharmacy for failing to comply with the authority’s standards.
An official from FDA said today that they had closed down two pharmacies last Saturday; Point Three Pharmacy on Sosun Magu and Furadhaana Pharmacy on Maaveyo Magu. The authority said that they had to be closed down as they had failed to comply with the authority’s standards. The official however did not give details.
Point Pharmacy’s CEO Hamza Gasim said that Point Three Pharmacy was ordered to be closed after the FDA had discovered upon inspection that certain medication were stored in the pharmacy’s toilet. Hamza said however that the no injectable or ingestible medication had been stored in the toilet, but agreed that some ointments and bandages were kept inside the facility.
